LINKS BY GEORGE NEWSLETTER
Aloha from an off grid rain forest cabin in Hawaii. For the past 7 years
I have lived in several places around the world and have been sending
my "Links by George" newsletter, blog and Facebook postings which I describe
as "an eclectic list of links of articles, music and quotes relating to alternative
lifestyles, culture, shamanism, spirituality, politics, conspiracies, art images
and environmental issues". I arrange the format so as to flow from one story
to another as well as have the option to find out more details on any particular story.
I am committed to networking these articles and stay many hours a day
researching. Our financial situation is very challenging as it is and the cost
to keep the internet services also is a problem each month. I would like
to thank the friends that have sent in donations to the service I provide.
I am not asking for anyone to feel that they have to donate.
My service is from the heart and it is a pleasure for me to outreach
to as many people as possible. Many people write me back
that they have benefited from the articles and thus the information
provides a service. However, if anyone can send even a small donation
to me through pay pal or otherwise, my family and I
would be very very appreciative.
In any case, the 'links by George" will go on. Please feel free to forward this newsletter as well as my Facebook messages as networking information is a vital tool of awareness. I would be happy to add other interested people to my mailing list as well.
We have a PAY PAL account where you can send a contribution
through your credit card. Use the PayPal Icon to the right
We also have an account with DWOLLA which allows you
to send a donation
from a bank account without need of using a credit card

America Didn’t "End" Slavery After the Civil War -- We Simply Exported It One of the most enduring myths we love here in America is that we ended our involvement with slavery. One of the most enduring myths we love here in America is that we ended our involvement with slavery after the Civil War. While our Founders – people like Thomas Jefferson, who wrote "all men are created equal" in the Declaration of Independence but owned slaves himself – were tarnished, morally imperfect hypocrites, in our modern era, we tell ourselves, we’ve risen above that. We are pure! We’re no longer tainted by slavery! If only it were true.

The Legal Creation of Race in America. When examining history, it seems that a narrative has evolved over time that slavery somehow just happened in the United States due to the need for cheap labor and that Africans were chosen because they could do that labor the best. While this is true, it is far from the full reality of the situation. Like slavery, race took time to be created and accepted by the population and like slavery; race had to be created from a legal framework. For this, we need look no further than colonial Virginia
