Links By George December 21st

Aloha from what continues to be a very stormy wet time on the Big Island of Hawaii.

The rain does help nature grow and the water tanks fill. Likewise information also nourishes our knowledge and helps us discern as well as choose appropriate action. Thus the path to wisdom is clearer. Not being on the grid gives us a chance to appreciate how to let go of loops that continue to be diverted through greed and destruction of the planet and all its life forms. The trend of the ultra-wealthy in building underground survival complexes is not a sign of healthy stewardship and expresses terrible mismanagement of resources and infrastructure. If corporations claim to be looked at as individuals, then they have to start acting as such. The bottom line can leave room for sharing and surprise out of the box gratitude and profit sharing with all of humanity instead of squeezing the life out of survival.
We are indeed entering a world of quickening change. As David Icke suggests, we need to open our minds and start taking responsibility and "remove the edifice of control and the suppression of information which will allow the full flow of knowledge of who we are to flood into the public arena." He points out that we are spirit beings having a human experience, but in order to enter the incredible consciousness shift, it is essential that we take care of the first part. Too many people deny the need for the first and feel that pain and suffering of others can be thus not real.
rights to energy and clean water. Political The movements to suppress freedom and dissent continue to spread while the media and government show not concern for individuals but for their corporate bosses and banksters. There is truth in the statement that "To Occupy" means not to repeat the same process but to end corporate rule. Spirituality is not a matter of self applauding righteousness but of putting compassion into practice. Christians should remember that Jesus was not interested in putting on fancy robes but in healing the sick for no pay or need of high insurance premiums. In the temple he cast out the money makers and proclaimed usury, which we call paying interest to the banks, as evil. Likewise he didn't say God should punish with drones, prohibition or weapons of mass destruction but to live and let live. Not of guilt and punishment but of love and finding delight in being part of the creation that is for all. Many on the new age path feel that to be spiritual means to meditate and hide in caves of personal dis-attachment. Yet the bodhisattvic path is one of compassion and of making sure all life is free of pain and suffering. Meditation, chanting, yoga and other spiritual practices are necessary but that does not mean just holding hands in circles but to also reach out to those that are not in the circle and to work towards bringing justice for all. It is certainly possible for the dominators not to be predators but to share what they have grabbed and to put away the war toys. Instead they can find themselves better liked and their soul more at ease by making sure everyone in the world can be fed, health care provided and a roof over their heads. To look at people with a feeling of gratitude, joy and compassion is true net worth. To own more than one can use is gluttony. To live simply so others can simply live is a universal affirmation. As Terence McKenna said, our society has created the sin of robbing the future from our children. Alternative and even free energy should be available for all and privatization and patents should not restrict everyone's assassinations and so called collateral damage are nothing more that murder and must end. At this point we can no longer be apathetic. Information is a vital link and even though our economic situation is in grave shape, I am determined to keep the Links By George newsletter and facebook updates serving such a need. Besides the demonstrations in front of wall street, we need to reach the places where the elites eat, play golf and live with the wake up call. They don't need the extra fleet of high priced cars and personal island mansions. It's time for them to join humanity rather than enslave it. It's time for their children to become aware of how their parents' lifestyle and jobs are starving children in other places and are killing off our atmosphere with pollution.
Sacred power plants, shamanism and psychedelics can open our doors of perception and access our birthright to higher ground, and deep healing. They connect us to the world of nature and its communications. They can provide entertainment but also the responsible integration into a hopefully healthier and more loving lifestyle.
To strive for the healthiest diet is important but to feel moral righteousness for others who don't have such a choice does not bring satisfaction. Our emotional health and attitude is important and sharing these same opportunities with others such as with our example and explanation is important as well.
Humor, art and music were all considered divine muses by the ancients and are vital for our life to flourish. As feminist Emma Goldman once said " If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution."
In-Joy your day and the rest of your life.

This week's "links by George" again is full of articles that include shamanism, healing, environmental issues, political and economic. And lots of music videos as well.

"I do not hesitate one second to state clearly and unmistakably: I belong to the American resistance movement which fights against American imperialism". - Paul Robeson

". . . in America, we have achieved the Orwellian prediction - enslaved, the people have been programmed to love their bondage and are left to clutch only mirage-like images of freedom, its fables and fictions. The new slaves are linked together by vast electronic chains of television that imprison not their bodies but their minds. Their desires are programmed, their tastes manipulated, their values set for them. " Gerry Spence, From Freedom to Slavery.

"If a baseball player slides into home plate and, right before the umpire rules if he is safe or out, the player says to the umpire - 'Here is $1,000.' What would we call that? We would call that a bribe. If a lawyer was arguing a case before a judge and said, 'Your honor before you decide on the guilt or innocence of my client, here is $1,000.' What would we call that? We would call that a bribe. "But if an industry lobbyist walks into the office of a key legislator and hands her or him a check for $1,000, we call that a campaign contribution. We should call it a bribe." : Janice Fine - Dollars and Sense magazine

The Blues ain’t perfect; the Blues is life. – Billy Cox

In 2009 Billy Cox was inducted into The Musicians Hall Of Fame; in 2010 he was honored with Experience Music Project’s Founders Award and earlier this year he was inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall Of Fame. With the honors and accolades pouring in, thick and fast, it would be understandable if he were to rest on his laurels. But that’s just not the Billy Cox way. He’s been a music man in motion for more than 50 years and shows no signs of slowing down. His latest album release, Old School Blue Blues, is a testament to his inexhaustible energy fervor and drive. To borrow from the album’s first -- and last -- track, he keeps “Rockin’ And Rollin’ On.” The album is something of a plea for a return to authenticity in music, both in terms of message and in the process by which it was created.
Of course, Billy is best known as the musician who worked with Jimi Hendrix before the Jimi Hendrix Experience was conceived, after the Jimi Hendrix Experience disbanded as part of the Band of Gypsys and, thereafter, as part of the Jimi Hendrix Experience when it coalesced again for the last time.

Links By George December 6th

Your donations, no matter how small, are very appreciated and needed
to keep the "links by george" newsletter and blog spot online.
The financial challenges continue to mount even though we are living
as simply as we can in a one room cabin and off the grid. We don't drive
our car much and harvest as much wild fruit as we can. I realize that
there are millions of people facing more adverse situations than
ours, so all things considered, we are relatively fine. Some friends have
suggested providing this newsletter by subscription only, but I would
never ask for payment from anyone who does not wish to do so.
However even small donations of 5-10 dollars a year for my twice a
month newsletter would be hoped for. Last month a few readers did
send me donations which have paid the internet bill for the next two issues.

The blog is formatted such that the articles appear in the middle part. On the right side are a column of images and videos. The Music Videos section when on the blog is on the far bottom below Punmasters music news. Once you scroll down the right side column to the end, the section of art starts with the most recent featured art first. The quotes of the week and music articles of the week appear on the bottom of this section as well.

When you see a supposedly "natural" product, like ConAgra's Wesson brand vegetable oils claim to be, you would probably assume they contain no genetically modified organisms (GMOs), which by definition are not found in nature. But Wesson oils, specifically the Canola Oil, Vegetable Oil, Corn Oil, and Best Blend, do in fact contain GMOs, prompting a class-action lawsuit over their misleading "100% natural" label claim.
