Aloha from an off grid rain forest cabin in Hawaii. For the past 7 years
I have lived in several places around the world and have been sending
my "Links by George" newsletter, blog and Facebook postings which I describe
as "an eclectic list of links of articles, music and quotes relating to alternative
lifestyles, culture, shamanism, spirituality, politics, conspiracies, art images
and environmental issues". I arrange the format so as to flow from one story
to another as well as have the option to find out more details on any particular story.

I am committed to networking these articles and stay many hours a day
researching. Our financial situation is very challenging as it is and the cost
to keep the internet services also is a problem each month. I would like
to thank the friends that have sent in donations to the service I provide.
I am not asking for anyone to feel that they have to donate.
My service is from the heart and it is a pleasure for me to outreach
to as many people as possible. Many people write me back
that they have benefited from the articles and thus the information
provides a service. However, if anyone can send even a small donation
to me through PayPal or otherwise, my family and I would be very very appreciative.
In any case, the 'links by George" will go on. Please feel free to forward this newsletter
as well as my Facebook messages as networking information is a vital tool of awareness.
I would be happy to add other interested people to my mailing list as well.
We have a PAY PAL account where you can send a contribution
through your credit card.

The weekly newsletter is posted below as well as the option to
click on the blog for the same latest edition as well as lots of
new art and images that I add regularly. The newspaper format
is easier for skimming headlines and for anyone with slow internet
speed. The blog is arranged so that the news articles appear in
the middle section. On the right column are images and videos.
Once you scroll down the right column until it ends, a new section
of art starts again in the middle section with my most recent additions
featured first.

QUOTES FOR THE WEEK:
"The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater." - Frank Zappa
"Liberty is meaningless where the right to utter one's thoughts and opinions has ceased to exist. That, of all rights, is the dread of tyrants. It is the right which they first of all strike down" - Frederick Douglass
"Liberty is not for these slaves; I do not advocate inflicting it against their conscience. On the contrary, I am strongly in favor of letting them crawl and grovel all they please before whatever fraud or combination of frauds they choose to venerate...Our whole practical government is grounded in mob psychology and.. the Boobus Americanus will follow any command that promises to make him safer." --H. L. Menchen
"He who dares not offend cannot be honest" Thomas Paine
There is absolutely nothing to be said for government by a plutocracy, for government by men very powerful in certain lines and gifted with 'a money touch,' but with ideals which in their essence are merely those of so many glorified pawnbrokers:" - Theodore Roosevelt
"Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich, by promising to protect each from the other." - Oscar Ameringer
"If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise,we don't believe in it at all." - Noam Chomsky
"The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, and intolerable..." - H.L. Mencken
"I'll tell you what they don't want-they don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They're not interested in that. That doesn't help them. That's against their interest." - George Carlin
" It's about telling the truth, allowing suffering to speak and being honest and candid about those in power" - Cornel West
"Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth." - Albert Einstein -- (1879-1955) Physicist and Professor, Nobel Prize 1921
"Freethinkers are those who are willing to use their minds without prejudice and without fearing to understand things that clash with their customs, privileges, or beliefs. This state of mind is not common, but it is essential for right thinking; where it is absent, discussion is apt to become worse than useless." - Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoi - (1828-1910) Russian writer Source: On Life and Essays on Religion
"It should be your care, therefore, and mine, to elevate the minds of our children and exalt their courage; to accelerate and animate their industry and activity; to excite in them an habitual contempt of meanness, abhorrence of injustice and inhumanity, and an ambition to excel in every capacity, faculty, and virtue. If we suffer their minds to grovel and creep in infancy, they will grovel all their lives." - John Adams
"Willful Ignorance is both a life and death sentence" - James A. Zoppa
"If the world is to be healed through human efforts, I am convinced it will be by ordinary people, people whose love for this life is even greater than their fear. " - Joanna Macy
"The trouble is that when American dollars earn only six percent over here, they get restless and go overseas to get 100 percent. The flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag.
"I wouldn't go to war again as I have done to defend some lousy investment of the bankers. We should fight only for the defense of our home and the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket.
"There isn't a trick in the racketeering bag that the military gang is blind to. It had its 'finger men' to point out enemies, its 'muscle men' to destroy enemies, its 'brain men' to plan war preparations and a 'Big
Boss' - supernationalistic capitalism.
"I spent 33 years in the Marines. Most of my time being a high-class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer for capitalism.
"I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I brought light to the
Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenue in. I helped in the rape of half a dozen Central
American republics for the benefit of Wall Street.
"War is a racket."
- General Smedley D. Butler
"The press, or at least most of it, has lost the passion, the outrage, and the sense of mission that once drove reporters to defy authority and tell the truth." - Chris Hedges
"Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play." - Joseph Goebbels
"Above all things let us never forget that mankind constitutes one great brotherhood; all born to encounter suffering and sorrow, and therefore bound to sympathize with each other." - Albert Pike
"A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history." - Mahatma Gandhi
