As I feel we are connected as a community, it is with respect to encourage each other to share views, no matter how we might disagree. Whether we feel we are co creators, stewards or just living as best we can, awareness is vital. Perhaps no need to feel attached to any one issue, but at least we can have some knowledge of the big picture. For me just seeing a McDonalds sign is a negative experience representing exploitation and harm to people's health and our global environment. (though their flushing toilets are a relief on long road trips) Capitalism seems to have uprooted itself from civic responsibility and creates portals for doing whatever it takes to maximize profits no matter how destructive the consequences. People's lives are considered expedient and at times acceptable "collateral knowledge". Of course life is to be living as happy and conscious as possible. But to run and hide in what Jimi Hendrix called a "room full of mirrors" means a life of denial to how other people might be suffering. Loopholes for the elite means nooses for the rest of humanity and life forms in general. By empowering ourselves with knowledge we come closer to being able to effect positive changes. Personal self growth is wonderful, but if we do not at least consider and act to make life even a little better for others seems shallow and selfish. Even though we might not agree, I still look forward to others expressing the freedom of different points of view and hopefully realistic solutions. Too many children are dying from starvation while the elite few are hoarding vital resources. Too much of the planet has become toxic while a few reap huge bank accounts from the pillage. To act from a place of love and to dance under the moonlight go hand in hand with any such earth friendly transformation.
Just as the land of the indigenous peoples of America was taken away by the white feudal lords, the people of our Big Island of Hawaii are being challenged by a horrific county building code that is threatening to become law. We live in the most economically poor area of the state yet for decades people have been living in alternative earth friendly dwellings off the grid. Now, because of the pressure from land developers and the lure of vamping higher taxes and grid electric bills, this county is the only one in the state considering not allowing local building materials to be used. Worse yet, anyone living in what can be arbitrarily judged as "substandard housing" will have to pay high daily fines as well as can be "criminalized" if not brought "up to code". We went in mass last week with over 50 other neighbors to the council meeting to express the overwhelming feelings of local residents, but the council still passed the draft of the bill by 5-1 then they ran out of the room after realizing they had dirt up their sleeves. Obviously our representatives do not represent their constituents but are perhaps following orders from shadowy overlords. As this news clip shows, 13 policemen where called in to quiet the understandably upset citizens.

After several years of searching we feel we have found the perfect land here on the Big Island of Hawaii where we and our 3 children would like to live and we can each build our shelters and garden. Five acres, good soil, ocean view and adjacent a forest with two intentional communities as neighbors. The price has been lowered to 65 thousand dollars which is less than half of what other similar blocks of land have sold in the same area. I know it's a long shot, but if anyone knows someone that could loan us the money, please contact us. We are willing to pay back a higher monthly payment to a lender than the regular interest rate and we do have some collateral for security. Also we would be happy to offer a place to stay here if they (or any friends) would like to come visit.

Creatively disturbing the world of the 1%.

In The Netherlands the 1% call themselves Our Kind of People, clearly distinct from That Kind of People, the 99%. They do not have to think about money, they have money. They will never be workless, their houses are not foreclosed, they move in exclusive places, clubs and neighbourhoods. They live in an exclusive world where the 99% are only allowed to enter as servants. They have a quiet, secured and privileged life. They think they are superior, unassailable.
Nobody ever disturbed them. After the French Revolution they were decimated but the lower echelons could very soon repair the damage. After the Russian and Chinese Revolution that was not possible. But the 1% in the rest of the world had enough power to impose on those countries its idea that money rules the world. After several decenniums a new 1% arose that closely resembled the 1% in other countries. Leaders live in an exclusive eliteworld and lost contact with the 99%, who live somewhere down under in their own often harsh world.
The 1% are driven by the quest for still more money to possess but also to spend on items and services that are out of reach of the 99% and to be in places that are closed for the 99%. They do not care if others have enough food, decent housing, good education of medical care. Their way of life has one basic reason: MONEY.
We must destroy the idea that money is the prime importance in life. We can prevent that they can spend their ill-made money. When they cannot use their surplus money, the foundation under their existence falls away.
The guiding slogan is “Spending 200.000 euro in one year should be the limit” (of course inclusive extras from invitations to exclusive parties or extravagant offices). We can care for it that the greedy rich cannot use the exclusive places where 99%-ers are not allowed to come or cannot buy or use goods 99%-ers never can buy. We can creatively disturb their exclusive world. Their superiority complex will disintegrate and our self-esteem will grow.
Go with a few friends with shovels to the golf club where the entry fee is over 100.000 euro or throw a few handful seeds of dandelions on the spotless greens. Go to an exclusive restaurant and taste the food the 1% has on its plates, make excessive noise outside the house of the 1%-er or remove the plants from his front lawn and replace them in public parks. They will become stressed and burned-out and will revise their values. Their behaviour will change to avoid the pressure from below. Then the 1% comes down to the massworld so we can talk with them on the same level. That is the start of the crumbling down of the top of the power pyramid and we will be freed from their clutches. The road to a New Humane World will open.
