LINKS BY GEORGE MARCH 3RD
The newsletter format allows for easier skimming of headlines
as well as for dial up in general. The blog is formatted such that the
articles appear in the middle part. On the right side are a column of
images and videos. The Music Videos section when on the blog is on
the far bottom below Punmasters music news. Once you scroll down
the right side column to the end, the section of art starts with the most
recent featured art first. The quotes of the week and music articles of
the week appear on the bottom of this section as well.
Stephanie does the uploading the "links by george" articles
into the blog as well as the photos and art work which take
her many hours as well and for which I am very grateful.
As many of you know, I have been sending out this newsletter
for over 7 years.
I am commited to networking these articles and stay many hours a day researching. Our financial situation is very challenging as it is and the cost to keep the internet services also is a problem each month.
I would like to thank the friends that have sent in donations to the service I provide. I am not asking for anyone to feel that they have
to donate. My service is from the heart and it is a pleasure for me to outreach to as many people as possible. Many people write me back that they have benefited from the articles and thus the information provides a service. However, if anyone can send even a small donation to me through paypal or otherwise, my family and I would be very very appreciative.
In any case, the 'links by george" will go on.
We have a paypal contact at gsrain@yahoo.com
Stephanie and I just enjoyed our 33rd wedding anniversary party which was a wonderful event here on the Big Island.
Our friend Scott Huckabay came and played an amazing set including his Jimi and Led Zep tribute.
Here is a link to one of his newer songs ''Secret Portal''
that was inspired by a visit to the pyramids in Egypt.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zvw9dHAHsjA
Aloha I invite you to check out my updated blog images in the new art images on the "top part of the bottom" picture icons. .
There is new art again from various artists.
The blog this week (as does the newsletter) has many articles on Wikileaks as well as stories on psychedelics, spirituality,
environmental, economy,health, political, conspiracies,
quotes and updated music news. As ever, I search through
a variety of websites and news sources to provide a wide panorama and multiple reference points of interest.
Also lots of extra music videos that I think you will enjoy on the arts section.
Of course not every article or detail is interesting to everyone, so I suggest one way to approach this digest is to skim the headlines and then go back to open the ones most personally interesting.
My aim is to arrange them in a way that has a thematic
flow (similar to how I would arrange the songs I would play in my radio show.
Also somewhat confusing might be the difference between the newsletter
and the blog. The newsletter has all the articles and does not require fast speed internet to look at. The blog has the same stories but also the art images and thus takes faster internet service to open. The same article headlines appear as on the newsletter and open when you click on them.
Besides the hundreds of new stories that I review daily, more and more music videos are being forwarded to me by friends and groups.
It's a tough choice which ones to edit down to the newsletter format, and as many of these take up too much time to download, I have added a new section after ARTS which I am calling MUSIC VIDEOS.

The NATO Plan is to Occupy Libya

QUOTES FOR THE WEEK:
"This is, in theory, still a free country, but our politically correct, censorious times are such that many of us tremble to give vent to perfectly acceptable views for fear of condemnation. Freedom of speech is thereby imperiled, big questions go undebated, and great lies become accepted, unequivocally as great truths." -- Simon Heffer Source: Daily Mail, 7 June 2000
=
"One of the shrewdest ways for human predators to conquer their stronger victims is to steadily convince them with propaganda that they're still free." - N.A. Scott American author, intellectual, anti-totalitarian figure.
=
"Our liberty cannot be guarded but by the freedom of the press, nor that be limited without danger of losing it." --Thomas Jefferson to John Jay, 1786.
"It is error only, and not truth, that shrinks from inquiry."-Thomas Paine
=
"Only a free and unrestrained press can effectively expose deception in government. And paramount among the responsibilities of a free press is the duty to prevent any part of the government from deceiving the people and sending them off to distant lands to die of foreign fevers and foreign shot and shell." New York Times Co. v. United States - US Supreme Court - June 30, 1971
=
"The free press is the mother of all our liberties and of our progress under liberty" - Adlai E. Stevenson (American Politician. Governor of Illinois (1949-53) and Ambassador to the United Nations (1961-65). 1900 -1965)
=
"And the great owners, who must lose their land in an upheaval, the great owners with access to history, with eyes to read history and to know the great fact: when property accumulates in too few hands it is taken away. And that companion fact: when a majority of the people are hungry and cold they will take by force what they need. And the little screaming fact that sounds through all history: repression works only to strengthen and knit the repressed." - John Steinbeck - Grapes of Wrath
"There exists a shadowy government with its own Air Force, its own Navy, its own fundraising mechanism, and the ability to pursue its own ideas of national interest, free from all checks and balances, and free from the law itself." - Daniel K. Inouye
=
"In examining the CIA's past and present use of the U.S. media, the Committee finds two reasons for concern. The first is the potential, inherent in covert media operations, for manipulating or incidentally misleading the American public." - Frank Church
=
"The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of any significance in the major media." - William Colby
"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves, in the course of time, a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it." - Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850), French economist
=
"If once [the people] become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, Judges and Governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature, in spite of individual exceptions." - Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826), 3rd US President
=
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." - Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826), 3rd US President
=
[Corruption in high places would follow as] "all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed." - Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), American 16th US President (1861-65)
=
"The conceited villager believes the entire world to be his village. Provided that he can be mayor, or humiliate the rival who stole his sweetheart, or add to the savings in his strongbox, he considers the universal order good, unaware of those giants with seven-league boots who can crush him underfoot, or of the strife in the heavens between comets that go through the air asleep, gulping down worlds. What remains the village in America must rouse itself. These are not times for sleeping in a nightcap, but with weapons for a pillow, like the warriors of Juan de Castellanos: weapons of the mind, which conquer all others. Barricades of ideas are worth more than barricades of stones." - Jose Marti, "Our America
"Morality is the best of all devices for leading mankind by the nose" - Friedrich Nietzsche
=
"Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, everywhere is war and until there are no longer first-class and second-class citizens of any nation, until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes. And until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race, there is war. And until that day, the dream of lasting peace, world citizenship, rule of international morality, will remain but a fleeting illusion to be pursued, but never attained... now everywhere is war." - Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia
"In the Soviet Union, capitalism triumphed over communism. In this country, capitalism triumphed over democracy." - Fran Lebowitz
=
"Capitalism has destroyed our belief in any effective power but that of self interest backed by force." - George Bernard Shaw

MORE BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD MUSIC COMING?
Last October, Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Rich Furay reformed Buffalo Springfield to play at the annual Bridge School Benefit in California. It went so well that it seems like the reunited group will hit the road this fall. And Stephen told us that might not be all they do.
(Cut #1) “It’s friendly and it’s semi-apolitical and there’s old songs and then the ones that are going to come out of playing together. I know that Neil will suddenly burst, ‘Hey here, I wrote a couple of songs,’ and bring out a stack of 20.”

DETAILS ON GARY MOORE’S PASSING
It’s been two weeks since legendary guitarist Gary Moore passed away and now, details of his death are coming out. According to England’s Daily Mail, at four in the morning, Gary’s girlfriend, Petra, who had tried resuscitating Moore, called for help at the hotel where they they were staying in Spain. Read more details at DailyMail.co.uk.
• Moore died of natural causes stemming from his heart on February 6th.
San Francisco—Barry 'The Fish' Melton, guitarist and cofounder of the legendary San Francisco Bay Area duo and band, “Country Joe and the Fish,” has released “Jamasutra: Revolution Down the Road” -- a bilingual French/English neo-psychedelic music album produced in collaboration with renowned Parisian guitarist Stephan Missri. Melton has been touring in France with Missri annually for the several years and they enjoy a wide popularity there. The traditional song, Shady Grove, is the album's title cut and calls for a “revolution” in environmental consciousness.
For further information: www.jamasutra.com
Barry "The Fish" Melton co-founded "Country Joe and the Fish" with Country Joe McDonald in 1965, recording five chart-topping albums and appearing in such classic movies as "Monterey Pop" and "Woodstock." In the early 70's Melton pursued a successful solo career with Columbia Records and United Artist Records, and eventually took up the self-study of law while touring throughout the USA and Europe. In 1982, Melton was admitted to law practice and formed the San Francisco Bay Area supergroup, "Dinosaurs." Dividing his time between law practice and music, Melton left his position as Public Defender of Yolo County, California in 2009 to give his undivided time to music.
