The background is that in the middle of the night the police
went into a church where some very frightened asylum seekers
had been hoping to be safe, since May. A number of supporters
quickly arrived and tried to hinder the policein taking the
refugees away, by sitting on the road or diving under the
wheels of the bus.

Not so long ago, I seem to remember, Bush was telling

on killing more Afghans. Who, of course, will go on killing
us. Is there no end to this madness?

Is The USA A Sick Country Or What?
By Dave Lindorff
We've got a litany of horror and abuse here that sounds
like the worst kind of stories that used to come out of Saddam Hussein's Iraq, or the Argentine Junta or Idi Amin's Uganda.
About the only thing missing is word that the military and
CIA torturers were eating their victims, or feeding them
their own genitals, but who knows? Maybe we'll get there
yet. It's hard at this point to rule anything out.

Americans: Serfs Ruled by Oligarchs
By Paul Craig Roberts
Americans think that they have "freedom and democracy"
and that politicians are held accountable by elections. The
fact of the matter is that the US is ruled by powerful interest
groups who control politicians with campaign contributions.
Our real rulers are an oligarchy of financial and military/security
interests and AIPAC, which influences US foreign policy for
the benefit of Israel.

Where Do The Dollars Drain?
By Emily Spence
The USA will never gain back its former glory days that gave
rise to both world dominance and a large middle class. As the
country continues to lose jobs at the rate of approximately one
every thirty seconds to either offshore company sites or
business cutbacks, it has nowhere else to go except to sink
down into increased hardship, as well as some degree of
destitution, for an increasing number of Americans and the
nation as a whole.
