LINKS BY GEORGE NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 22, 2013
Ten years have passed since my first Links by George Newsletter.
At that time, I was terrified of getting involved with computers and only when my
friend Terence McKenna convinced me of the importance of information sharing
did I slowly get involved. But even though I seem to spend most of my day researching
stories, I am still not very digital or tech oriented. Now I extend thanks to my
friend Paul who came to visit us from Australia and has been able to upgrade
the presentation of my social networking through Facebook as well as the newsletter.
I hope you find this new format easier to read and navigate as we set sail for new
adventures of trying to make sense of the rapidly changing events in the world and
how we can make clear decisions in the process.
I now also have a page on Facebook which has the same stories, links and images as the newsletter. You can access it through https://www.facebook.com/linksbygeorge
I would also like to ask if anyone has contact information for certain musicians that often come to Hawaii. We are organizing a benefit here on the Big Island for needy people that are in critical need for medical help and are without insurance or money to cover the cost of any treatment. If any one knows how to reach Willie Nelson, Graham Nash, David Crosby, Neil Young or Mickey Hart, please let me know.
For the past 10 years have been sending my "Links by George" newsletter,
blog and Facebook postings which I describe as "an eclectic list of links of
articles, music and quotes relating to alternative lifestyles, culture, shamanism,
spirituality, politics, conspiracies, art images and environmental issues".
I arrange the format so as to flow from one story to another as well as have the
option to find out more details on any particular story. My early influences included
networking articles from the 60's counterculture where a truly holistic newspaper
included perspectives of a new age and cultural renaissance as well as the need
for political activism and environmental awareness.
YOUR DONATION OF ANY SIZE IS VERY HELPFUL AND MUCH APPRECIATED
I am committed to networking these articles and stay many hours a day researching.
I would like to thank the friends and readers that have sent in donations to this service
I provide. I am not asking for anyone to feel that they have to donate. My service is from
the heart and it is a pleasure for me to outreach to as many people as possible.
Many people write me back that they have benefited from the articles and thus the information
provides a service. However, if anyone can send even a small donation to me through pay pal or otherwise, my family and I would be very appreciative.
In any case, the "Links by George" will go on. Please feel free to forward this
newsletter as well as my Facebook messages as networking information is a
vital tool of awareness. I would be happy to add other interested people to my
mailing list as well.

HIGH CONSCIOUSNESS:
The Origins of Halloween: Season of the Crone. Halloween, Samhain, All Hallows, All Saints or Hallow-Eve is the season of the Crone. In ancient paganism, the word Crone denoted an elder priestess or tribal matriarch; a cognate word is "crown," the symbol of a leader. The word was made pejorative when the Christian Church redefined all elder priestesses of the old religion as malevolent witches. Similarly, the word "hag" was once derived from Greek hagia—a holy woman—and also became a Christianized term for a witch.

THE MUSHROOM DOCTOR: THE WISDOM WAY OF THE FEMININE SHAMAN is a new book written by my friend Camila Martinez which sounds like a fascinating, informative and inspirational journey and would be an excellent book to order. It is the story of Dona Julieta, a great curandera and shamaness from the Sierra Mazateca, Oaxaca, Mexico, and her teachings. Camila is a Curandera trained in Oaxaca, Mexico in a 20 year apprenticeship with Dona Julieta and is the first western woman to receive a graduate degree in Aryuveda and Tibetan medicine. She also is organizing a film called THE SEED MOTHERS TRANSMISSIONS about the sacred feminine in Mayan Culture. More information and donations for the film as well as purchasing a copy of the book as can be gotten from Camila by check : Camila Martinez, P.O. Box 751, Bolinas, CA 94924 the cost is $24.

No Safe Havens in Increasingly Acid Oceans. Stephen Leahy, News Report: Oil, gas and coal are contaminating the world’s oceans from top to bottom, threatening the lives of more than eight hundred million people, a new study warns Tuesday. The study found that carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels are overheating the oceans, turning them acidic and reducing the amount of oxygen in seawater. This is happening too fast for most marine species to adapt and ocean ecosystems around the world will collapse
